ShaliPoxy CTE-HB is a self priming, two-component coal tar epoxy coating, black in colour, used to protect steel, concrete structures, timber and other construction materials in corrosive environment. It is an excellent abrasion resistant anti-corrosive coating system.

Application Methodology

Surface Preparation:
Concrete:

• Mechanical grinding or other suitable preparation is recommended for obtaining best results on concrete. Compressed air is used to remove residual dust or use brush to remove dust completely. Compressed air should be oil free. Apply only to dry surfaces.

Steel:

• Steel surface, which are to receive ShaliPoxy CTE-HB coating should be prepared by sand blasting or power tool or mechanical cleaning to a commercial grey metal finish. If prepared surface is contaminated by moisture or other contaminants, they should be re-blasted. Use suitable Epoxy Primer if required.

Mixing:

• The ShaliPoxy coating system is thixotropic in nature. It requires efficient stirring before application. The two component system is packed in two containers in the ratio of 4:1 by volume. First mix each component separately until uniform and then mix the components in the specified ratio until homogeneous. For best result, use a variable speed drill mixer with a spiral type blade at the bottom of stirrer rod. The speed may be 400-600 rpm. Place the spiral blade at the bottom of the container before starting the mixer. This will help avoiding inducting air into the mass. Slowly move the stirrer head up to the surface while stirring. Do not remove the blade while still it is spinning. This procedure is continued for 5 minutes up and down to have a homogeneous mixing. Allow the combined mix to sit for an induction time of 20 minutes. Stir again gently with a hand stirrer to ensure uniformity before application.

Application:

• For best results, apply two coats of ShaliPoxy CTE-HB by brush, roller or spray. First coat should be allowed to dry tack free before application of second coat. The second coat should be applied as per enclosed technical data. Wipe first coat with MIBK and wipe dry with cloth before second coat or it may also be applied directly. Use ShaliPoxy CTE thinner for diluting and cleaning purpose.

Packaging:

• 20 kg packing.

Storage:

• 12 months in original unopened container. Do not expose to direct sunlight.

We are offering a wide range of STP Outer wrap (Coal Tar Saturated Glass Fibre Matt), which is a reinforced glass fibre mat for pipe protection. This comprises glass fibre tissue impregnated with specially prepared plasticized pitch which is then finished with sand. Further, our range confirms to the latest AWWA C 203 & IS 7193 standards.

Description:

• STPOuterwrap is Glass Fiber non-woven mat uniformly impregnated and heavily coated with a coal tar saturant, which is compatible with coal tar enamel coating
• STPOuterwrap has uniform porosity, which allows air and fumes to escape and the hot coal tar enamel coating to bleed through it to ensure its fusion into the outer surface
• The porosity is maintained to the optimum level to promote effective adhesion between STPOuterwrap and coal tar enamel
• Fine mineral matter (Surfacing Material) is applied to the surface to prevent sticking between layers of STPOuterwrap
• All loose or unbonded surfacing material is removed from stpouterwrap before packaging. STPOuterwrap, when unrolled at temperature between 0^oC to 38^oC, does not stick to itself to such an extent as to cause its tearing

Standards:

• STPOuterwrap meets all the latest International AWWA C203 and Indian specifications IS: 7193 for coal tar impregnated non-woven glass fiber mat

Application Areas:

• It is applied in a continuous end-feed machine and fused onto, but not buried in the outer surface immediately following the final coat of enamel
• To prevent gassing i.e. formation of craters or voids in the enamel beneath the STPOuterwrap, high-humidity conditions should be avoided
• These are used as a repair material for small damaged area
• STPOuterwrap shall be of suitable uniform width for smooth spiral application
• The side lap is recommended to be at least 1.0" or 25 mm
• Our range is applied neatly and smoothly with bleed-out between laps and shall be free of wrinkles, folds, buckles and air-pockets
• Coating thickness can be controlled by speed of application, temperature of enamel and tension while applying
• Unless specified, the standard procedure is to use one or two inner wrap and one outer wrap for coating

Health and Safety:

• We recommend use of gloves, goggles and filter-type mask during application of the STPOuterwrap
